*84 CATS WERE SPAYED AND NEUTERED*
|
Since 1987, LAST HOPE has been active in attempting to develop proactive methods to deal with the feral cat problem on Long Island. We held our first feral cat trapping workshop in the Levittown Public Library in 1995 and have held numerous workshops since that date in attempt to educate the public about feral cats and the methods available to contain their procreation. In 2003, we developed the FIX-A-FERAL Program to make it financially feasible for the public to spay and neuter the feral cats that they are feeding. To date, we estimate that well over 4,000 feral cats on Long Island have been spayed and neutered through this program. |

LAST HOPE ANIMAL RESCUE SPONSORED ITS FIRST FREE SPAY/NEUTER DAY FOR FERAL CATS ON MARCH 11. THIS IMPORTANT EFFORT TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF BREEDING FERAL CATS ON LONG ISLAND WAS THE RESULT OF NUMEROUS CARING INDIVIDUALS:
